Old Southern Charm. New Southern Chef. Lowcountry Reborn.

Chef Sara Carter celebrates the Lowcountry and its food in a great way, and also serves a great selection of standards — from the classic shrimp and grits to a pan roasted free range chicken she will not disappoint. As quoted by local food critic Jason Zwiker “The seared scallops are to die for, and the local tomato salad is good enough to headline at the media darlings about town”.

The recently remodeled Library’s dining room is beautiful and intimate enough to make the place worth a visit right away. For those locals that recognize The Vendue Inn for its incomparable Rooftop Bar, it is a geniune pleasure to take a seat downstairs and enjoy something as wonderful as the panoramic view.

The Library has the most intimate setting I have seen in all of Charleston. Chef Carter took the time to visit myself & fiance’ & gave us her recipe for Butterfinger Creme Brulee.Truly a unique setting that I would recommend to all!

The food is deliciously and uniquely prepared, the setting is intimate and romantic, and the service very attentive. It is not uncommon to receive a personal visit from the chef herself! We always stay at the Vendue Inn and look forward to a wonderful dining experience whenever we are in Charleston. You will not be disappointed.
