Old City Market

Old City Market was built on land given to Charleston by a wealthy local family in the early 1800s. The main building, Market Hall, dates to 1841 and is built in the style of a Greek temple. Today, shop from more than 100 vendors and browse everything from local foods to clothing and Charleston souvenirs, including West African basket weavers. Strolling Old City Market is one of the best free attractions in Charleston. Do you know the name of the pecan and/or peanut vendor at the Old City Market? Do they have a web site?
I visited in March 2009.
Thanks

There are several pecan vendors, The one that sticks out in my mind is called Market Street Sweets, which has a website riverstreetsweets.com. Let me know if this is helpful.

Do you know the name of a restaurant in the old city market area—located right on market street. There is an entrance on market and then another right around the corner that is more of a bar entrance. I remember going up steps. I can’t remember the name and we are going back to Charleston this spring. Please help!

The only restaurants I can think of would be Tristan or Peninsula Grill. Tristan definitely has a bar entrance around the corner so that could be it. I believe they both have websites as well, so that could help you narrow it down. Hope this helps you out.

I believe the peanut vendor you are looking for, with personality plus, is Ron Slanga who worked for Market Street Munchies. They are located in the market and this particular vendor is the heart of the market. Also, the restaurant in question is, in my opinion based on your description, A.W. Schucks. It is located on Market Street with the side bar entrance on State Street.

I know they were in the old city market.
